not sure if this the right place but, got a 214 8v on an m plate. when its cold and damp it struggles to start, i aint got much of a clue under the bonnet and this morning it wouldnt start and now the battery is dead. what would you sudgest is wrong with it??? really doing my head in, cheers in advance
in the cap are four metal pick-ups, they are shiny metal, but will probably have a white crusted oxide coating, this needs to be scraped off, using small screwdriver. Check the central graphite/black pick up is spring loaded, just push it gently and it should return. Also inspect the cap for cracks.
The rotor arm on its outside edge, clean up with a few rubs of fine wet and dry paper, back to shiny brass.
if this allows the car to start.............. at the earliest opportunity replace.
