Driving down the motorway this morning and my boot open light decides to illuminate. Stop at the next services, open the boot, close the boot and yep, the light was still on...... Any ideas how I can rectify this....??
How did you know your boot light was on when driving the car?
IIRC there is a small switch that activates the boot light thats incorporated into the boot latch, have a look at this, even with the boot open, the light should go out if you operate the boot latch (with a screwdriver) to simulate a closed boot.
Don't know for sure, but the same switch that operates the boot illumination probably also triggers the boot open warning light. So if you check that, hopefully you'll find the fault. Unless it's the dreaded boot hinge loom.
First time I knew I had a warning light was after I'd fitted the electric boot release. Sheila was so impressed that I'd even managed to fit a warning light in the dash. LOL.

check the wires that come out from the body near the boot lid hinge these can wear and short out with all the bending up and down with the boot lid.Had it happen and only found out in the morning when the battery was flat.
problem solved.. in my case, the stereo had been serviced at some point. when they shoved it back in, it pinched a wire against the frame causing it to short randomly. i was convinced it was the boot wiring.. but alas no.
