Rover 400 ignition control module
I've got a problem in that my 416 (manual) in that it keeps cutting out when the engine gets hot. The local ex rover dealership says it sounds like the ignition control module and says to heat it with a hair drier to see if it cuts out. Only problem is I can't find any reference to it in my manual so don't know where it is - can anyone help.

The 416 has a coil and the ignition is controlled by the ECU/EMS he could mean that or maybe the CPS (crank position sensor)
An ignition control module to my mind is a solid state high voltage transistor which can fail due to heat soak from the engine (the most famous being the Ford Probe) I do not think these are fitted to a 416? Last edited by carnumpty; 06-12-2006 at 02:19. |

The ECM is the rectangular silver box mounted on the bulkhead next to the fuel filter.
Be very sure that it is faulty before replacement because it is not cheap and is coded to the alarm. Peter |
