Arrow Peaks Camping Weekend 3-5th July 2009

The date: 3rd - 5th July 2009, thats Friday & Saturday nights camping.

The place: Birchover, Derbyshire, UK.

The campsite: Barn Farm, Birchover, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 2BN.
Situated on the outer edge of Birchover village at the upper end of the main street.
Set in over 350 acres overlooking the beautiful Derwent Valley, it has all the facilities you would expect on a campsite W/Cs, shower block, pot washing facilities, laundry and drying facilities, games room and also a sauna, just to top it all there are also free roaming peacocks.

The Charge: Camping £7.50 per person, per night, payable to the campsite.
There is no need for a deposit or even to book BUT I do need to know how many people / tents are attending as the owner wants me to let him know, but numbers doesn’t appear to be a problem.

Alternative accommodations: Barn Farm (the campsite) has 2 converted barn types self catering units, The Garden Room & The Gatehouse Barn, both 2 berth, there are larger units for big groups.

Very nearby B&Bs: Poppy Cottage suitable only for two couples willing to share a bathroom.
Old School Cottage, for 2 persons (a couple).

All alternative accommodations (other than camping) should be booked ASAP direct in person with the proprietors to avoided disappointment.

Pubs: 2 within 5 mins walking distance ‘both do meals’ The Red Lion & The Druid Inn.

Friday / night: Throwaway bbq’s (self done) Jester's quiz &/or pub crawl 'Ha’ Ha' or just chill & chat and do as you pleases, it’s up you. Please make sure you have at least 1/2 a tank of fuel for the run 'next day' as there are no fuel stops.

Saturday 'Run' 10.30am WILL include picturesque countryside / villages ‘the’ TUNNEL and a little water, fish & chip shop, cafes, pub meals or a picnic (it's your choice) . If there is demand? a short stop at Sainsbury's (Matlock) for: BBQ's, beer etc .
Fuel wise bank on about 60 ml's 'at least 1/3 rd tank'.

Saturday night: as Friday night & there will be Bat Detectors available but I will need a security deposit or your car keys with a full tank of petrol , Jester's quiz & Dawn's Water Waiter game,
BE WARNED folks with pacemakers or expectant mothers should not play 'but you can watch'

Sunday: 10.30am ‘If there is enough interest?’ a short walk down to nearby Rowtor Rocks, it’ll probably take about an hour and then we do our goodbyes

The boring bit youMUST READ
All drivers should adhere to The Highway Code as set out by the Department of Environment, Transport and are responsible for their own actions when out driving on the public highway.
PLEASE keep vehicle movement down to a minimum when on the campsite and adhere to a 5 mph speed limit, engine noise should be kept to a minimum & adhere to all the campsite rules., All arrangements for accommodations are between yourself and the proprietors (not me). In a nutshell if it all goes tits up its not my fault or anyone elses.

I'm working on this one - token southerner for you. May be tricky getting a pass from SWMBO - it's her 60th birthday and I think she's hoping for more than a night in a bivvie.

Stick me and Linda down as maybes

All depends on whether I've got my son that weekend or not. Won't know until closer to the date as things change from time to time

And it's my birthday on the 10th One between the two of us

Opps, forgot to say camping

OK, there's no rush Marie (for camping) I only put it up this early to give folks a chance of booking the few nearby B&B's etc, as it's a very popular place in the summer months .

? I take it you might be camping?

John.

Yes, camping is the plan. Sorry, I tend to think that because I know what I'm thinking everyone else does as well!
