I know I have not been around as long as some members of the forum but I don't see how its really changed that much apart from changes due to people selling up.

My enthusiasm is just as good as it always was, probably more as I bought an LE500 and still have my F - have some work planned for this over the winter but probably not till the new year.

As a newcomer I cannot comment on what has gone before.

I am however probably the biggest culprit for taking a topic off thread. although at the same time, I will where ever possible help any member, be it imformation, trying to arrange transportation for parts for overseas members, support where I cant help, I ensure EVERY new member is greeted. I will pull up items that have been overlooked, and have PM'ed others and asked them to look and see if they can advise. Where i cant.

I do this because I love the forum, however if it was purely technical, as some wish it to be, I would leave. I enjoy the banter, i feel the balance is right. If you disagree, sorry.

The one disappointment is the lack of innovation form the community at large (with notable exceptions) and from F/TF specialists.
Could be due to the ever evolving nature of the forum. Some people don't like change and with every long standing member that falls by the wayside, 2 new people join. It is innevitable I'm afraid, nothing stays the same.

I thought that there has been a lot of innovation lately. People experimenting with body panels, handling and exhausts, not to mention turbo conversions and Honda transplants. I can't remember any of that going on when I first joined.

We could do with a few more manufacturers dabling in the F/TF world, but I'm sure that will come if there is enough interest.

That's part of what makes this forum so good Steve -the off topic stuff and banter are sometimes the best bits

After 9 years of MG ownership the pleasure I get from driving the car ( my only car ) has not diminished one bit, I even enjoy getting up early to drive my son to the station, roof down even at this time of year. I am not a car DIY person as I do not have any mechanical skills but I can appreciate what everyone else achieves.
All group activities and forums have their ups and downs with people falling out, leaving, new members joining and benefiting from the huge knowledge base here, sometimes threads are not to everyone's taste but at least there is a lot of activity on this forum, the banter is great, a bit like being down the pub with your mates, long may it continue !

I have to be honest, my enthusiasm for our F has waned a little of late. I think a combination of the Oulton incident knocking my confidence in it, the cost of repairing it and the fact I basically enjoy enthusiastically driving my ZR more (albeit wishing the Zed had the same VVC power the F does! ) means it will probably be mainly driven by my wife now.

Still nice to drive on a clear night with the roof down, though.

I think the forum is brilliant,.....the welcome, knowledge, banter is what it's about. Respect for other people's ideas, ways of doing, what they have done etc is also part of. All pubs have characters, I know I was drung up in one, they are part of fixtures and fittings. There is one guy in particular, he does post neg comments a lot, and I myself have thought
why............but looking back on his earlier threads, I can see why, and at the same time he's had a lot of good feedback,....... a lot.

Sometimes folks wind other folks up,...thats part of it.

Evolving is what happens wether you like or not. Folks don't like change, but sometimes it's necessary, on here it happens too.

Peoples lifestyle, time, commitment , change.

I love my MG, I have always had an MG make somewhere along the line.
I loved my MGZT-T better,

but my Tilly gets a lot of attention, when I can afford to spend on her.

I went off MGT/TF forum not long ago, and posted a thread, comments from other folks, but one stuck in my mind.......along the lines of......'glad you could make it out of the sportscar forum'

I did get involve in a certain thread concerning an Ebay man, all I can do is apologise to a Mod,........ which I did. Not because he was a mod, but because I felt I had overstepped the mark, myself. I went on my personal service, and gut instinct on judgement of character, I shall still stand by that.

Maybe, in the near future, a .org weekend can be run central, or even a regional .org, all on same weekend.....dunno... I do know saying and doing takes a great deal of organising.

Anyway, my enthusiasm hasn't swayed, just finacial climate, and time of year, dampens things.

I hope you told them where to go, Tell them I cant replace her for that, so you will just have to repair her. They will not like that at all.

Well, I could be excused for losing my enthusiasm as mine has bene parked on bricks for 4 months...but I still have it.

I am still buying little bits and pieces now and again for her when she is fixed. Silly things like door card clips I broke over 5 years ago, stainless bolts, etc, so that she will be restored one day. I find that worrying but somehow amazing at the same time

Enthusiasm for this forum, however, is a different story, as of late, and I actually expect to not even be in the top 50 this month . I mean what other car forum would you get called an idiot for asking a technical question about cars that not many people actually know??

There's the odd new MGF/TF forum popping up here and there, which seem to be well moderated to prevent the nastiness that goes on in here. But I will still be here, though. Always ahve been and probably always will be. Probably won't subscribe again though.

Anyway, back on topic, my enthusiasm for Maggie is still high, even though I only get to look at her and open her boot now and again

My enthusiasm is virtually non-existant at the minute! I drive Nugget every day to work, she's not had a clean for a few weeks either! I'm just working so damn hard at the minute and I can't help thinking about my next car!! Time will tell I guess! Nugget is going in for the BIG service and SS pipes in December so hopefully she'll feel better to drive!

I want an S2000

or

BMW Z4!
Just can't get these thoughts out of my head!!

I will of course still potter about, and will offer advice and in a lot of cases contacts/spare bits etc to the genuine people, just got tired of the abuse and certain people and their family members threatening to come around my area and find me etc all for potentially genuinely helping other MG owners.

However the community spirit that states use a certain mobile mechanic/MLS gaskets can never fail/those who use the forum to generate business and dont actually own the car in topic completely destroyed my enthusiasm for the marque of friendship
whats this about an ebay man thread? can someone give me the link, or has it been removed?

New people come along, older members become less active - they've read much of it before and there's only so many times you can enjoy posting the same advice.

As our cars age, the nature of the ownership changes with it. It will be a very different place in 10 years time but I'm sure this excellent resource and social club will still be here.
