City Rover Juddering / Hesitating

Hello,

I've got an 06 plate City Rover (given to me thank god).

I've recently been having problems with it juddering and hesitating when pulling away. If I put my foot down it will pull very slowly and erratically and the revs will increase slowly too until about 3000RPM at which it properly kicks in, this happens in all gears. It is generally worse at the start of the day (maybe weather related now it has turned cold?).

We've had trouble with the engine coolant running low before and this has caused a similar behaviour. This time it was completely empty so I filled it up with water (probably not the right thing to do) and the problem subsided a little bit but not totally. Should I follow the book to re-fill this properly or is it an unrelated issue?

Has anyone had a similar problem before?

I had the over revving when idle problem and the garage cleared out some gunk in some bit of it (I'm not that good with cars!) but it ended up costing £500 for the full service and MOT. Having seen the price of these cars now I'm not willing to pay that much to get it fixed again and would rather buy a different car - probably an Astra.

Thanks for any advice!

New Coil Unit needed...

UPDATE:

Looks like the coolant was a red herring. Completely lost power today in a different way after smooth running on a 70 mile journey.

The RAC man had a good look at it all and says he's 99.9% sure it's a problem with the coil unit. Any idea where I can get a new one for the CityRover from?

A new coil pack seems to have fixed the original problem as well as the loss of 50% of the power problem.

Well, it looks like I've got a working car again now (touch wood) - time to get rid of it and get something a lot better!
