MG Zr Express with Windows??
Hey, as you probably know, im super interested in buying a Zr Express
I've had thoughts, is it possible for me to remove the blanks, replace with windows, and then fit a netted mesh? (As the window blanks are there to stop big things smashing the glass?) And if i was to tell the insurance company of this, then it wouldnt really effect it too much? as its not a modification that would make it more stealable or whatever.. if anything it will make it look less like a van, keeping theives away as they wont think goods are kept in there? |

I Know i know it sounds stupid :/ and i have laughed at people who have spoke about this in other threads, but im only doing this to give more visibility when reversing
![]() and also by putting up a shielding mesh, it keeps it like a van instead of basically making it a car again ;o i probably wont do tihs, but it was just an idea |

MK2 + MK1 = MK3

i think that cutting out metal to replace with windows would be something you have to declare on insurance.
i would also be worried about structural integrity as im not sure how the panels differ from the standard car |

It will be windows covered by metal mesh
The Citreon C2 Car Derived Vans Are designed like this, instead of having blanks, they have fully tinted windows |

Isn't the express just a zr without rear seats/windows?
Just buy a zr, mesh/tint the windows are remove the seats. |

Can't you just buy a ZR and make it into a van?

My old ZR rally car was originally an express. At some point, the rear panels had been cut out and fixed windows installed. It can be done!

i thought those panels were inserts, in fact i'm almost sure they are. firstly i remember being told that some commerce/express vehicles were shipped abroad with panels to exploit some kind of hole in the regulations when shipping vans vs cars (apparently rear qtr glass was sent with the vans so they could be converted on arrival!) and secondly because it would probably have been cheaper to use inserts!

Yeah as said just buy a normal ZR. Buying an express and putting glass back in makes no sense.
