Hi i have an 2002 mg tf 160 love the car great fun to drive best car i have owned. when the engine is cold it feels like its alot quicker than it is when the engine is hot i never drive it hard from cold but it feels like it has a lot more poke in it, is this normal or is there something wrong with mine any ideas

The ECU is programmed to squirt a more dense fuel and air mixture into the cylinders when the engine is cold,the revs also increase slightly to keep the engine idling evenly till up to temperature then the fuel air mixture is leaned off.
The ECU is basically doing the job of a manual or automatic choke but does it to a more precise degree.
This is why your car feels pokier at start up.

You can buy a 3p resistor from ebay for £20 which will replicate this for you when the engine is warm if you like
