Anyone ever used or heard of these before??

Cash 4 Cars??

http://www.cash4cars.co.uk/

My dad got a text message the other day saying they could off £1695 for his ZS and would collect it ASAP and pay cash on collection...

So I went on the site and did a quote and it came up £1695 as said but they wanted a £50 fee which they would refund me on arrival?

That seems a bit suspect to me..

Anyone know if these are con artists or is it actually legit?

I dont want to pay the £50 and find that they never turn up and just bugger off with your money..

What do you think??

Cheers

Yeah exactly..

Only thing I could think of is that because they bring a recovery truck, if youve messed them about and lied to them about your address and they turn up and you havnt really got the car or you dont even live at the address given, they keep your £50 as a charge for the use of the truck or something?

Then once they arrive and realise you are who you say, you do live at the address and do own the car, they refund you it?

Either way, bit dodgey!

They do seem to be spending a lot on advertising as I have seen ads here and there in recent months.

...probably all in £50 notes!

£430 for mine.

Much better than Webuyallthecars.

Couldn't even see the bit where they say they'll come & collect.

Says they cover SW & Wales, Lincs is a chuffing long way from there.

BTW - bet you won't get anywhere near the figure they quoted, expect them to knock off a ton for EVERY scratch, ding & scrape

Plus, they'll roll up and inspect the car. This means they'll find 'this', they'll find 'that' etc that'll all knock another liitttttlllllle bit off that price until they offer you £100 for it!

unless you get a written guarantee of that price regardless what faults the car has,but i would still be wary of handing them £50

Not going to happen. From their T&C's

The computer generated quote you will receive is not an offer to purchase but a guide price for your vehicle. Only an inspection by one of our team of your vehicle and it’s paperwork will give you an exact offer to purchase it.

To be fair, I cant see how they run the business.. They have offered us £1695 for the car.. Its only worth that to be quite honest so they will pay £1695 take it, then sell it on for £1750 if they are lucky.. Whats the point? Theres obviously a fiddle somewhere along the line.. Surely..?

They have "quoted" you £1695 for the car. When the inspect it that will drop by a fair amount in most cases.

They will be trying to get that price down as close to trade as possible. So for example on a facelift model they will end up in the £800 region as their final offer.

So basically, they can go forth and multiply

Very peculiar business model - we will buy something from you but only if you pay us first - Sainsbury's (former) potato buyer has just been put in prison for doing something along the same lines.
