Ceramic Paint protector
There seem to be a load of ceramic paint protection products around at the moment, do any of them actually work?
We're on the look out for a monogram ZS as the moment and I'd like to try and protect the paint as much as I can from scratches / chips / bird crap etc...

Sounds a bit like the 'enhanced paint protection' option that you can choose from the dealerships.
One of my neighbours (pensioner type) purchased a new focus back in '07 and had this done, a £200'ish extra - no waxing required and just needed a blowover from a hose, this special chemical spray to wash it and a rinse. Seemed to work pretty well, I've moved now though so no idea how well it lasted.

Ceramic coatings are very easy to apply, i am testing 2 out at the moment and to be honest i am very happy with the durability that they are giving, they have been on for about 3 months now and everytime i was the car it still beads water off and still has a nice deep shine to it, one test i did was with a neat, strong all purpose cleaner and washed a wing with this 3 times, this normally would have stripped your wax/polish straight off but the ceramic stayed on the paint and the water still beads, in my eyes they are worth the money not like the likes of supagard, lifeshine, diamond brite etc, these actually work, some ceramics say they can last for up to 5 years but i doubt that, 2 years tops, but i always offer 1 year when i use them, like said above the ones to look for are Cquartz, Gtechnic and Nanolex (my Favorite) ones to keep away from are the re-branded top market stuff, cant say names but go direct to the big comapies like above
