Can anyone please help i have an MG ZT 2.5, when i run the car normally anywhere above 50mph the temp gauge rises and the light comes on also the light comes on sayin car door is open, if i slow down the gauge goes back to normal. then when i turn the car off the fan(or at least i think its the fan) makes a really strange noise. Can anyone tell me what the problem is thanks

The overheat warning should never be ignored. It suggests to me you have an air lock due to coolant loss. Do you have to top it up very often? Check in the head V for coolant puddles/stains.

The door open warning is actually from the bonnet open switch located on the slam panel. Wind lift at speed causes the bonnet to lift off the switch. Try turning the two rubber buffers half a turn clockwise till the light stays off. The buffers are on each end of slam panel.

The 'strange' noise from the fan maybe a sign of old age. Start saving up!
