Mercedes now own Brawn GP

...................and there's no room for Button!

Merecedes have taken a 75.1% stake in Brawn and the team will be renamed Mercedes GP. Driver line up is rumoured to be Nico Rosberg and Nick Heidfeld, with Timo Glock as a reserve.

Ross Brawn and Nick Fry are said to be staying and will hold a 24.9% stake in the team.

Button visited Mclaren headquarters last week, so is this where he is going?

Disapointed that Brawn sold out to Mercedes but I guess they had to to survive really, id like to see Rosberg with Sutil if they MUST have the all German line up

Schumacher to drive for Mercedes?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/8368107.stm

Makes a bit of sense if he's fit enough. Scary thought though. Brawn and Schumacher reunited.
That will be DAMNED interesting.

Not with no refuelling, that was their strong point.

Only a small part of the genius between them though. They have that *link*, a level of feedback no other driver/engineer combination is ever likely to have, short of harking back to the old days when a driver would be able to fix his own car if need be.

How about Button and Hamilton working together as a team then !!! That would really make the british fans sit up and take notice. Bit of difference in the pay packets though !!!

I hope Schumacher does join Mercedes GP. This way Lewis and Jenson get the chance to ruin his legacy by beating him.

Ouch, my eyes!

Well, the difference in pay is to be expected - there would probably be more upset if he waded into McLaren on the same wages

Well its all happening isnt it. last week i thought the idea of button joining maclaren was complete nonsense, now schumacher driving a merc, who apparently is a stop gap until they can get hold of vettel, but its not a German team honest.

All this is more interesting than some of the races, especially next year with no refulling, i expect valencia and singapore will be about as interesting as watching paint dry.

They'll still have to come in for a change of tyres though.....So, although the fuel situation is going to disappear, it's usually the changing of tyres that cause the majority of situations where races are won and lost......

Stroll on next year eh.....

Front tyres are also narrower next year so no one really knows at this point how that is going to affect wear or grip and overtaking.

Yeah, I wonder if we'll have what is my absolute favourite style of F1 car with the humungous rears and skinny fronts and the large rear wing?

Hmm but i doubt we will see the variation in stratagy that we have seen being able to vary the fuel load. I expect most will pick the same stratagy re tyres

There are many variables that will affect the race strategy......Dont get too caught up in the fuel issue as this was only one such variable. If you are old enough to remember the days before fueling you will realise that it is not that big a deal in terms of race strategy.

In fact, some of the best races ever in F1 have taken place when there was no re-fueling.....

When the season starts and you get aclimatised to the skinny fronts, larger heavier cars etc, you will soon forget the fueling issue. I remember when I heard they were doing away with the large rear wings and over-sized rears/skinny fronts I was distraught. Thought that it would ruin the sport I loved. I soon got used the new F1 cars and the rules and regs.

The beauty with this sport is that it is never predictable.......Even when Schumi was winning all those races You still got the odd race where someone came from left field to win/get on the podium.........
