Could this fault code still be hanging around as i have had the head gasket done recently, and the car seems to running fine. To me anyway would it be worth taking it to the garage and getting it checked?
You get a get some special software and a cable to plug into rhe ECU to read error codes made so you can diagnose a fault quicker. Doesn't come cheap though if you want to do this yourself.
Cylinder 4 misfire. Suggest changing spark plugs, if this does not cure the fault one of the coils (2 in all) may be faulty, each coil is for two spark plugs with only one error code suggest the fault lies with the spark plug. When removing spark plug you may find that the one in cylinder 4 will have a black wet deposit this indicates that all the fuel has not been ignited. The light should auto reset when fault has been resolved no need to get it reset. Can you tell me where the diagonostic socket is situated. Thanks
Cheers people i will get his checked out and sorted asap, Could this be resulting in poor fuel economy as i am currently averaging 29 miles to the gallon and thats taking it easy below 3k and having a bit fo fun with all kinds of driving dual carriage way, town country roads and sitting in traffic for an hour a day
Search for elm327, should be around £12 on ebay with cable and disk.
Thats what i used and it brought up the same fault this guy has.
i called my local garage and the said it should be the spark plug and when i told them it was a 1.4 zr the said it's probably HGF. Anything breaks on a zr and garages seem to always say it's headgasket.
These devices are complete, you do not need cable or software. Directly involved in the OBD II connector.
