You'll need ally mesh to shape. 1 large p38 and 1 large p40. Then lots of patience and sanding. I lost one of mine today so hoping James Hurrys up now

Nightmare. I really liked your scoops mate. I'm going to make the shape with high density foam Kev. Are the P38 and P40 better to use than the fiberglass kits off of ebay?

If you don't use mesh and screw it to the inner scoop then the filler may crack and come away. Mine did.

I've never used fiberglass before mate so thanks for the advice. I'll put the mesh over the foam but what will I need to do to the foam to stop the fiberglass sticking to it?

1 Of the large fibreglass kits from halfrauds will be enough, make sure you get some ali mesh too, the larger one with large "holes" is better.

Guys, im still waiting on the ABS moulding firm to get back to me, ive emailed them 8 times in 5 days asiking for more info.

I used mesh to get the right shape first.

I have also realised that it was about 4 1/2 years ago.

Thanks Clive I've read through your thread a a couple of times already.

I was thinking more along the lines of making a mould for my scoops and the P40 that kev used would probably be the best material to use for doing it. Please feel free to chip in and tell me if I'm going about this the wrong way or you can see anything that wouldn't work.

I want to make a set of scoops similar to the ones made by XR3TF as in with the horizontal slats. The reason for this is because the slats look like they would give the scoops strength and I also want them to be a sealed unit.

As said before I plan to use high density foam to make the mould. If I do it this way I can make a template of the side shape from the OE TF intake less 5mm for the thickness of the fiberglass. As for thickness I'm thinking between 25 and 50mm. I'll know better once I'm working on them. By using Foam I can double the total thickness to make up the mould of both left and right hand scoops at the same time to ensure both scoops are exactly the same size then split the foam through the middle. For the slats I plan to then cut the mould into three pieces and back them on to another piece of foam so that they're now 3x5mm recesses.

Once the moulds are made up I'll use P40 rather than sheets and resin as I think it would be easier to work with. Not sure how I would stop the P40 sticking to foam or if I should still use mesh?

I hope I explained that well enough for everyone to understand. Any advice welcome

When I made my under body scoops I made a foam mould then wraped it in brown parcel tape, before fibre glassing

The fibre glass pulled off the mould easily with no damage to the brown tape

Bloomin work PC wont let me upload a pic.. Could E mail it to Kedunga though for him to upload lol

I used a bit of 100mm Cellotex foam insulation and a litchen knife to rough out the shape..then bought a fibre glass kit off E bay and made a pair up..

They will be stuck to the underside of the car with seam sealer.. so that if they hit something whilst driving the will come off.. rather than damaging the underside of the car..

I Have a few sheets of foam insulation here. Not sure weather to use a bullnose finish or make them half hexagon. I've ordered the bits off of ebay so I'll make a start at some point this week
