PG 1 Gearbox Oil
Hi
I need gearbox oil for my 160 gearbox. I know that it is mtf94. But my local factors don't stock it. They have contacted miller oils for me. and millers say that it is the same as 10w40 engine oil? Is this true?????? |

If that is so, rover would have put synthetic oil in it would they have not. tell you what .Ive just opened my can of it ...and it smells like nothing Ive ever smelt before..slight strawberry smell to it..so it cant be normal engine mineral oil ....maybe it is something synthetic. all the best..mark |

The PG1 box fitted to maestros and montegos are 10w40 however they have an oilchange interval of 40k miles. MT95 is very similar and infact for top up purposes many manuals say 10w40 is the stuff to use. I'd try getting the right stuff if you can, but if you are just topping it up then good quality 10w40 should be fine.

No problems with stiff shifting on a cold morning. Seen some ridiculous prices of over £20/litre, but it is £11 for 946ml here: http://www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/pr...roducts_id=137 If someone is running a 220 Turbo or chipped diesel (I know you're not), might be worth using, due to the high torque |
