Servicing at Evans Halshaw MG Rover Dealer, Mansfield

My MGF's just had its 4 year (cambelt change) service and MOT at Evans Halshaw Rover (used to be Priory, I think), Southwell Rd West, Mansfield, Notts.

It was only done yesterday, but they seem to have done a good job.. didn't pick fault with things, to get extra money out of me, and charged exactly what they said they would (and they quoted me less than a couple of other MGR places had).

They seemed like nice helpful folks too, so just thought I'd mention that I'd had a good experience there

Yes the dealer is very good - when Wrights of Newark closed we transferred all work on mums 214i to the then priory dealership. Good customer service and the waiting times were less than at vauxhall with her corsa (now selling that). Glad the dealership is still going.

I can heartily recommend them too. Had my car done there last year and they even gave me a bit of a discount on one or two bits (to ensure I return I think.)

Sorry to barge in folks - anyone got their details so I can put them in the 75 club dealer locator?

Thanks,

Pete

They are still trading as MGR and formerly Priory Motor Group

Shame that I already booked my service with Luffield this week otherwise might have given them a try.

Upon closer inspection, Evans Halshaw didn't grease suspension pivots, as they should have.. my dad's just had to do it.

I'm not sure yet, if they 'forgot' to do anything else...

well its constructive criticism surely - if our opinions were rigid to the point where if something is good, it is always good forever and ever, the world would be a bad place.

My dad's S80 (oddly) came from an Evans Halshaw (stockport i think) and the bloke who delivered it ate a sandwhich in it and left crumbs everywhere!
Moral decline or what!

I did say at the start, that it was only done the day before, and they "seem" to have done a good job.

They didn't do everything they should have done, so I'm simply stating that fact. Not 'picking faults'.

Can I just say that I have just read this with interest, as TJ is complaining that the Scottish forum is deid and one of our cheeky Celtic cousins (I mean this in a nice way btw) said it was still aliver than the E. Mids forum!

I currently expect to let my ZS get its 2 year service at Luffield...

erm....that was me.......!!

I am not scottish myself but Have relatives who live there and are scottish. It is true that the scotland forum is the busiest region section - if that is dead then no other area has any hope!

Really? Are we talking about the same Evans Halshaw (I know there used to be a few in Mansfield).. the one on Southwell Road West? It was still Evans Halshaw when I last saw it, a few weeks ago

Yes the one at Southwell Road West. It now has a large Motorhouse sign where the MGR sign used to be and loads of different cars. Don't know whether Evans Halsaw is totally gone in Mansfield or just moved to a different premises but I suspect is gone forever.

Oooh that's a bit of a bugger then!
I was sending Stiff there, for some car bits, a couple of weeks ago. good job I didn't now!

I'm wondering how many 'Motorhouse's they need in Mansfield.. there's one on the A38, near Sutton too, I do believe.

Can you elaborate abit more, when drove past the MGR sign was gone but only a big Motorhouse sign was there. Has the MGR part been pushed to a corner? They were selling all different makes on the forecourt.
