Post VVC engine 'buzz' at 2000 and 3000rpm

A new buzzing sound has started occuring on my 200BRM. Under power, as the engine passes through 2000rpm there's a brief buzz. It only occurs during a very small range of revs and doesn't do it when blipping the throttle or in 1st gear.

It sometimes does it through 3000rpm, but things get a bit loud above this so I'm not sure if it does it at higher revs.

Any ideas?

Question Re: VVC engine 'buzz' at 2000 and 3000rpm

Exhaust, perhaps?

Any way I could test this?

(It's quite a high-pitched buzzing, BTW)

Thumbs up Re: VVC engine 'buzz' at 2000 and 3000rpm

Could be an exhaust heatshield - close examination of the exhaust system on a vehicle ramp would uncover this

Otherwise, its just a process of elimination >=(

You don't have an angry wasp trapped in the heater matrix by any chance ?

I seem to remember reading a thread about an additional exhaust / downpipe mounting bracket made by MGR specifically to stop this buzz on the VVC. Unfortunately I cant remember where I saw it???
