who's stainless system resonates?

my new powerflow resonates like hell, it's been amended once and it's no better.
is suspect it has the wrong type of silencers on it, so i was wondering who else has a stainless on their non-turbo motor, and what make it is, and does it resonate, and um...what shape silencers it has in the middle and the back.

i'm taking the car back to be ameneded again, so it may help to have some info

thanks!

What do you mean by resonate?

Unless you specificaly asked for a really quiet system, it'll be louder than standard.

resonance is where a deep drone comes into the cabin from below the car, as opposed the the loud noise coming from the back.

trust me, there is a difference between a loud exhaust note and resonance.

My scorpion system does that on some occasions, best described as not a "nice" noise.

Yep, my Powerflow resonates like hell, specially between 3000-4000 rpm. It's got worse the longer it's been on and gets REALLY LOUD when hot. I've also noticed the pipes are rusting, so I'm just about to arrange to take it back, preferably to get it ripped off and replaced with a Janspeed system.

It won't be rust, just give it a polish and it'll come up shiny again.

Mate, it is rust, trust me. The boxes are still shiney, but the pipe between them is not looking good.

i've had the centre box replaced with 2 centre boxes now.

the volume has gone but the deep drone is still there when it's hot.

however, it looks like it may be the tailpipe, i'm having it changed with a double skinned job on satureday, i'll let you know what goes down then.

it would seem there a lot more to tailpipes than just how you want your cars bum to look!

Are they charging you for all these mods?
I phoned the fitter and am now waiting for them to ring me back with an appointment date

initially, they charged me to replace the centre section, but only the cost of the difference between the sections, they havent charged me for changing it yet again, since the new centre section was actually fouling the speed humps (non-lowered car) so i told them it was no good.

i'm not sure about charging for the new tailpipe, i have spent a fair amount of money with the dealer recently, (and most of it was labour - HGF!) and they seem helpful and keen to do what they can.

i've heard from numerous sources (but none close to me) that a single skinned tailpipe does cause nasty resonance, and the one i have is about 4*3 inches.

i suppose most powerflow exhuasts are made for custom applications, like these 1.2 clios with 2 tailpipes each side (eew) and such like. i personally think that a loud exhaust takes away the quality feel the VVC engine has.

there are tailpipes with a resonator built in, but i'm not sure how good they are, and whether a realistic sized tailpipe shouldnt need one.

if this all goes well, i'll get them to make a note of what components were used, and perhaps if anyone else is interested in a quiet powerflow they can call my dealer.

Did you ask for it quiet in the first place cos my system is no louder than my induction roar.

yep, i did ask for it quiet, which is why the dealer is sympathetic to my cause.

but i also chose the tailpipe from a selection.
