Whats your favourite Small Car?
Of all the small cars on the market, whats your favourite?
From reading the What Car road test in the November 2006 issue, it would seem that the Vauxhall Corsa has leapfrogged all the competition to gain the top spot. I am yet to drive it, but purely from looks, it seems to be pretty good. It certainly looks alot nicer in the metal, than in the original press photos. ![]() For purely looks, I love the Fiat Grande Punto. My next door neighbours have two of them, and they look stunning. ![]() In terms of dynamics and roadholding, then I think the Ford Fiesta is great. The new style dashboard has certainly improved things. The original dashboard looked a little plasticky and nasty. Mind you, they seemed to have kept the 'Meringue' gear stick, which looks a little cheap. I think though, the Fiesta is getting on a bit now in car years. ![]() The Peugeot 207 seems to have met with alot of opposition over its looks, but I have to say that I really like it. Sadly, because of its weight gain, the smaller engines struggle to pull it along. ![]() The Renault Clio seemed to win alot of group tests, but I just can't seem to get excited about it. ![]() So whats your favourite, and why? |

The new Suzuki Swift - very cute, well built, cheap and very good value. Plus it's a break from the norm. That said, I love the new Punto if only for its styling.

I love the Honda Jazz - it's just like a tardis - you can cram so much stuff into it - it's got plenty of storage dotted around and doesn't look bad either!

I like the punto, because ive driven every model upto current one, and i love its nippyness, and little town car appeal
And i love to play with the extra light power steering for parking, its ace! especially in tight spots

Voted for the Swift because of its better visibility.
A-post intrusion is awful in some modern small cars, would be easy to miss a cyclist or biker at junctions- not good in a town car. The new Corsa looks especially bad in this department. |

I voted for Grand Punto i do really like the look of that car, I also like the new MINI including the new MK2 model but it is a bit dear.
Not sure whether the 207 aught to be disqualified on the grounds it isnt a small car. I belive its similar in length to grande punto but is significantly wider hence looks more like a golf sector car, similar to the 25, not sure thats a good idea. |

My mates got a Fiesta and I think it's quite a funky wee car and good to drive. Just a pity Ford never kept their promise to build it at Dagenham

I was about to say "definitely the Grande Punto" but having seen the new pics of the Corsa I'm impressed. the VXR Corsa looks a bit brash, but I'd still have a go if the keys came my way!

has to be the punto, for a start it looks great, but it also has a great little diesel engine. the corsa is a grande punto in drag anyway, shared platform.
othe hing is the interios its not the same gray plastic and painted silver bits like you get in every vauxhall. |

Pretty much agree with your views, Ian. But it is a shame the A2 is no more, I think it will become a future classic, superb piece of design! The C3? In design terms it is ok but build quality is on a par with the CR, no make that worse.....The Ypsilon is what a small Rover should have been.

The Ford Fusion is my choice - looks great in facelift form and (unlike the ZS) is another Tardis that's really roomy on the inside.
Shame it doesn't come as a 2 litre IMHO. It's not really that small a car (as I've said before, it's the largest Ford I would consider...)

Fiesta for me, why I bought one not so long ago. I loved the look of the Swift but not the drive or interior quality. Grande Punto is in my opinion the best looking, not sold on the interior or Fiats in general. I think the Fiesta is best overall, handling is great for a car in this class. Mine is the facelift, they really improved the interior.
