Post More on remote locking

In addition to my wee head-gasket problem, the remote locking handset appears to have a persistent battery-drain problem. I have had to replace the battery every two weeks.

The handset is for a 1996 Rover 416 Si (BRG, which of course makes a significant difference ).

After these problems started, I have had to replace the car battery (had no problems with the immobiliser as the AA keep the power supply constant).

Actually, I do not know if it is the battery, or a problem with the rolling codes. It will not lock or unlock.

Any advice?

I reckon you've got a knackered plip...

Have you got two plips? Try the other one if you have one.

Batteries don't just go flat; it will be a dodgy plip, in my experience.

Costs? About £50 for the pilp plus programming (approx £25 ish)

How odd.

After getting my car back after the head gasket replacement, the blips now work. Better than ever in fact.

I ain't complainin' - just a bit puzzled.

Thumbs up Re: More on remote locking

They can play up sometimes, for no apparent reason ???
