CAR MECHANICS December 2006 Issue ... Some Rover content

My December 2006 issue arrived a couple of days ago.

Their "Survival Guide ~ Rover 400" three page illustrated article is an interesting read. Their early comment that "Today, the 400 is something of a gorgotten gem" whilst not exactly a surprise for the likes of me, goes some way to confirm what many on this web site already know ....... that statement is very true and can be applied equally to a number of other Rover Models too.

As is often the case where modern Rovers are dealt with in the media, the article includes mention of K-series head gasket problems. However, the R 400 that is the subject of this article is a 420 with ABS, AirCon, SRS etc. Of course, above all, the picture of the engine compartment clearly shows its Rover T16 engine, not the k-series usually found in most of the range. No mention of this in the article which is a sad omission.

Always a good read, in the NEXT MONTH issue flyer, they give details of their New Project Car ...

>>> It's British, it's black, and its covered 237,000 miles from new. Best of all, it's FREE!!! Meet our Rover 600 ~ it's a lot better than you might think!!! <<<

be interested to see that next month.

In their list of "Cars to keep forever"; sixteen so far dealt with, not a single Rover or MG. Just the usual German, Japanese and other predictable stuff. Current issue shows a BMW 7-series. Another sad omission. God willing, I will keep my best MG Montego Turbo and Rover 620ti forever!
.... so there ...

So, now you wanna buy a BMW .... Huh! No natural class ...

Normally aspirated engines suck. They really do. Good job turbocharged engines blow and suck. That's better.

Does the Peugeot 205 feature in that list?

Mine's a 1988 E reg 1.4 petrol, with NO RUST or oil leaks.

Flies through it's MOT each year.

Always starts. Brilliant little cars.

A rusted 205 is a very rare sight. I'm serious.

Same goes for the 405, great cars.
