Thermostat housing.

Got the 75 back, new themo housing.Engines running great so a message to all the dooms dayers,if you switch the engine off ASAP when overheating occurs, these 2.5 motors are fine.Just keep an eye on your water levels regularily and if in doubt, take the plastic engine cover off and check for water in the V of the engine block.

yep it's a hot weather hazard. I replaced a perfectly good robust thermostat during the cambelt change because I knew it would burst if I didn't. You're right ...if you don't "cook" a kv6 it'll be fine.

Here we don't have corroding brake pipes, shorted fan relays, frozen pitted alloys, boot water ingress, plenum drownings, green chrome, soggy number plate lights etc etc but we do have heat hassles. Cheers.

What did your cambelt change cost you ? Ive done 80,000km and probably will get about another 12 months out of the 75 until the change.
Been looking around for a possible new car replacement but just can't seem to find anything as good as my 2003 75.Like the look on one of the posts of a futureistic MG7. If they build that Ill be after one ASAP.
Its a bit of a shame as you get a bit spoiled with a car like the 75,you have to go and spend over $100,000 to get somthing close.

It cost a bomb! See my post below "75 major cambelt job" for figures. Time passed is more important than kilometres I reckon. There is one OZ 75 being advertised with 200 k's on it. and I bet it's the original cambelt....so they are pretty tough. I'd change in just over 5 years or by about 120 thou kilometres.

Hi from the Gold Coast where I have owned a 2002 Rover 75 Conn for a couple of delightful months. I bought it in Sydney on a whim and drove it back enjoying every inch, but my joy is short lived, water water every where and it is a real plastic thermo housing. I have a workshop manual now and intend to replace it myself but the landrover agent quoted over $500. for it **** !!! but the Orical says the Kia one will fit-only $90 ! is this for real ?
also any ideas where to get lower suspension control arm bushes at a sensible price...love the Rover and the 'forum,

regards Terry

Great car, thermo housing, according to my mechanic same as the Kia's.
As for the bushes, try a local ex MGR dealer ,if to expensive get them shipped out of the UK if not to big or heavy.Rover over there is like Holden here so parts are pretty cheap their.I seem to be able to get MGR oil filters, airfilters etc from the ex MGR dealers still, but found a Ryco oil filter pretty much the same as the Rover 2.5 's which is listed fort a Chevy aluminium v8.
Air filters are a bit harder - specific size.
Not sure if the R75 front end shares with anything else brand wise ?
