Mk1, in fact it will be an early F.

I think I'm right in saying that the only outward visable signs are clear lens indicators and colour coded windscreen surround, inside the Mk2 has a facelifted interior. Probably much more but for what you can see I think that covers it!

Yep as Chris says it's a Mk1, MK2 did not appear till around 2000.

As above. Mines also P reg, and from what i can tell, the main differences are the hood, seats, centre console and dash (well, heater controls etc) and door cards. There are probably loads more besides these though

Does the Mk1 hood have 2 seams?

Yeah, thats what was on mine when i bought it. Seam runs down each side above the door glass. Swapped it for the seamless Mk2 one - i reckon it looks smoother, if that makes sense?

Can be done but needs a few alterations to heater control box!....

There is a 'How to' guide on Robs site but don't have his pages on this laptop...

The Mk2 also got the adjustable steering column which was the best interior upgrade. No more steering wheel in your lap!

I love having my steering wheel as low down as possible! I can only just fit my legs in under the wheel.

Some of them...

Externally

- Colour keyed windscreen surround
- Smoked (not orange) indicators
- Different alloys (8 spoke 15" minilites / 15" square spokes / 16" square spokes)

Internally

- Silver faced instruments
- Seat design (replaced Fusion fabrics and foam inserts)
- New fascia (pencil lid replaced with recess below switch bank, aluminium gear gaitor ring)
- Height adjustable steering wheel (minimal adjustment range, most of the height gain is through thinner seat bases!)
- Door cards altered, with trim finisher on door pod
- 6 speaker ICE, Mark 1 F only has 2 speakers (one in each door), MY2K has additional tweeters and rear speakers behind the seats)*

* = Not 1.6, this model was introduced during the MY2K era. If it is a 1.6 F then it is a MY2K car despite only having a 2 speaker ICE setup.
