According to my contact who had a SV in his showroom last weekend, he said 'next year' and it would be a brave person who bets on the exact date! We need the V8's more ugently though.

Those who have paid deposits have already been to Longbridge and driven one! Also discussed options and trim levels.

Most dealers are totally in the dark about dates for the SV as they aren't being sold via the usual dealer network.

The ZT V8s - your guess is as good as mine

Cool

V8
Lets remind ourselves ----
ZT-T260 V8 will be sold thro normal dealers whilst the 385 and up thro' Xpower dealers [ very restricted number ] together with the SV.
I noted in post a few weeks ago that I recieved letter from MGR saying November '03 the planned launch and that if I recieved any further notice I would report to you all.
I have recieved a second letter today in responce to a number of questions, like
1. Will the 260 have the softened suspension?
2. Will monogram programme apply? - I liked the duo-tone
tourer at Motor show last year!
3. All I have seen so far [ the last at B.Hatch last weekend ]
are tourer versions of 260. Are saloons and tourers
coming out at the same time?
4. Bodywork of 260 like current 190? Those I have seen so
far are so the flaired wheel arches bonnet grilles must
be on the 385 upwards [ Like that shown at Geneva
Motor Show in 2001 - nearly two years ago !! ]T
There were a few other questions but i will not bore you with them.

So the letter. In a nutshell it said.
MGR wish to avoid giving info on spec so as not to set a level of expectation and therefore possible later disappointment of the final product.
That says, funding tight and testing troubles to be overcome first!
I cannot see the 260 coming out untill after SV CR and SW on the market.
Anybody else any info.?

Hi BA Richardson (What does the B stand for, BA Richardson sounds too official!)

My honest feeling is that the 260 will be like the 260 we saw at Longbridge. I don't think they would comment on specs at the moment for the reason that they might change them - which is understandable.

I would imagine we'll see them shortly, the 260 was supposed to be launched around Nov time - hopefully they'll suprise us and get it out earlier.

I can't see why the saloon and tourer wouldn't be launched at the same time.

Monogram is almost certain to apply as production wise, they don't differ from the FWD ZTs, they go down the same line.

Suspension wise, it might be different to cope with the extra weight and different rear suspension, but I would have thought they would have a setting similar to the current ZTs, with a firmer setup as an option.

All, IMO of course

Your right Steve. BARichardson is to formal but I found it out to late when I first subscribed to the site not having enough experience of these new fangled websites!!!
How can I change it?
Anyway, it's Brian.
You remember, we met at the last Longbridge visit.
The 260 is supposed to be November but as all the models are coming out later than originally stated I think it will be out early next year

why is the 385 an X-power limited numbers special? The competition sells this sort of power in a standard body from every dealer.

why does MGR limit itself with these sorts of short sighted actions?

And I thought X-Power to MG was what AMG to Mercedes Benz... but this ZT X-Power is more like a Lotus Carlton.... planned to build 1100 of them. How disappointing.

I haven't heard anything about the 385 being limited in numbers. being an XPower Badged car, they are sold through MG Sport and Racing dealers, of which only a few will be selected from the Dealer Network. As I understand it.

As for why they are doing this... I don't know.
