Rover 25 2004 model questions.

hi guys, im new to here and will be searching the forums, sorry if i am jumping to the questions to soon but would like to know two questions i have.

1. for a rover 25 2004 model i heard that it is restricted but can get it opened up to use its full potential. is there a simple way to do this or a guide?

2. im looking for a certian part for my car but as it is a 2004 model the parts are hard to find, the part i am looking for is the driver side locking unit, my one has 2 wires that come out of it, i have seen other locking unit but they are off older cars and only have 1 wire, is there anywhere i can look? please dont tell me partsgateway, they are complete rip offs.

thank you for your time guys.

PM me your registration number and I'll try to find out the part number for you.

As far as the Throttle body mod is concerned, do a search on this site, it's been covered a lot.

Regards

Andy

Not all of them are restricted, The way to tell is open the passanger door and look at the vin, If it says 84PS then you have the restricted one. As for this part, I dont have a clue what your on about. The locking motors are the same as early 200's and so is the KAC micro switch.

They are resticted in 2 ways. The throttle body has a diffrent cam action which reduces the throttle opening, easily swapped but needs setting up on T4 orsimilar to correct the idle speed. This will help a bit but they also have a different ECU.

That's incorrect. You need the unrestricted TB and the corresponding cable.

You can reset the stepper motor by turning on the ignition, pressing the throttle pedal 5 times in fairly quick succession and then switching off.

The idle will stabilise itself after you take the car for a drive.

The ECUs are the same, on pre-2004 cars at least. They may well also be the same on later cars, but I have no experience of them so can't comment with any certainty.

Yes you would need to tell them. And it may well indeed put your insurance up.
