Mot

Just had my car MOT'd...it failed

2x Anti-Roll bar link arms
1x Lambda Sensor

Was just the link arms first, but the car couldn't be re-tested until this morning, but upon re-test it failed on the emissons?
Anyway guy took the car for a drive to try to warm up the engine properly, but it still failed.
He replaced the Lambda sensor and it was ok, odd but at least its passed.

2 x Link Arms £24.92
1x Lambda Sensor £61.10
= £86.02
Labour: £45.00
Sub-Total: £131.02
VAT: £22.93
MOT: £40.00
Total: £193.95

Sound about right guys?

Smile Garage Costs

I thought it was reasonable when you consider the on costs for garages these days with Health & Safety, insurances,Rent, heat, light, rates etc.etc.etc.

I ran my own haulage business for many years and folks just don't appreciate the costs involved. Rovers have lots of specialised items as you will discover reading posts on here. You're paying for more than just wages and parts and the guys have to make the costs of their overheads. Try a main dealer and see what you get!!!! My Fiat Punto cost £160 for a basic check round and an oil and filter change to maintain the warranty (at 3500miles!). I now find that any garage can do the servicing if they use genuine parts and follow the manufacturers set servicing procedure. They don't tell you that though!

Yeh, I'm not complainging really the guy is an independant garage and a really good, honest bloke, I mean I can't complain for £45 labour - that includes having the car for 2 days and driving to the test centre 4 times in total plus fitting of parts.
Its like where I work - people never wanna pay the money for repairs, yet they dont understand JUST how much labour and work is involved is some of the work I do.

yeah not sure about the lambda sensor but like killedbill bought a pair of link arms for 12 quid off ebay, fitted them piece of **** in 30minutes - just need the car jack outta the boot then a 15mm and 13mm spanner. job done.

might help if u get a second jack - helps take the weight of the steering arm when trying to line it up with the roll bar - u'll see what i mean.

good luck.
