Stebel Air Horn
A year or so ago I bought a red Stebel Air Horn from the Online Shop.
Part Number XPT000005ACA, currently listed at £20.56. I'd had a 1999 75 which had twin horns, and was appalled to find the pathetic single horn fitted to my 2004 version, hence the purchase. However, despite being fitted out of harm's way (behind the front nearside corner - as dry as possible), the thing has been a pain. I have regularly had to dismantle it to free the compressor vanes, and despite testing it every time I drive the car, and keeping it lubricated, it's been to no avail. Apart from legalities, I'm thinking of reverting to the original and obtaining a second "standard" horn instead. Italian electrics at their best I think. Beware. |

Have you got it the right way up? - the horn must face downwards. |

Air Horn
Yes it is mounted correctly. It seems that I have been the unlucky one, but you can only take as you find.

Never had a problem with either mine (on my F, mounted on its side but in a protected location) or Helen's, mounted correctly on her ZT (in probably the same place as yours)

With the F having a relay feed to the horns anyway, I spliced in a couple of spade connectors to one of the existing horn cables. Removed both of the old horns (one was broken anyway) and connected up... Works a treat.

Have had one my bike for years Passes MOTs no probs. its currently on my dl650 which is used for green laneing and gets real muddy often and it still works fine.
A couple of other people i know have had problems after installing the horn on an angle and sideways it must be mounted UPRIGHT as it states in the instructions. Have a twin pipe airhorn from ebay on the 25 running with the stock horn via a relay. Good for making small children cry and older folk **** there knickers

CARL
Id use a relay just to be safe its really easy to do though my cb500 horn switch died when i rigged it directly to the horn. Unsure about where you could mount it on a zs is there any space infront of the battery?? just try to keep it upright and out of direct rain and it will be fine |
