Worried?

Hi Guys,

Got in my car this morning, turned the key and the car fired up-but...it normally is a bit tappety until it warms up-this morning was the same yet the engine seemed to be wanting to throw itself out of the bonnet! The vibration through the steering wheel was unbelievable. I turned the engine off and then started it again, same problem-seemed to be hunting. I left it a few minutes (as I normally do) to warm up and then I gingerly moved away and the engine management light came on and then went off. It has stayed off and the engine seems to be running fine-it ran perfect yesterday when I went up to slickman's house and back. Never had this problem before-will be going out when it stops raining to check on fluids etc.

Have you guys any ideas, or had this kind of problem?

Si:-)

Ignition related, seems like it's misfiring.

As Ashy said. Probably it is running on 3 cylinders or less.

Yeah, thanks guys-this was my thought but just wanted a bit of feedback before tackling the problem.

IIRC the car had a problem when I went to see it-engine management light on-no pick at higher revs. They sorted the plugs and it seemed to cure the problem-like I said had no worries in the months I have had it. It's MOT time at the end of April- may service it early and see if I can sort this problem.

*UPDATE*

Got the motor sorted...YEAH! Damp was causing problem-all sorted-had a full service-all new filters through out and a pre-MOT as it's due at the end of April. Looks like it should *fingers and everything else crossed* sail through.

Glad it wasn't something really expensive.

I had a similar thing yesterday morning, must be due to the immense wind and accompanying rain we've had recently.

I changed my plugs yesterday anyway, as it was needed to cure a hot-starting problem.
