Exclamation water leak and loss of power?

Hey all.

I have a problem, it's not too major as I am going to book my little beast into a garage tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone could help me identify where the problem is coming from? So I can go in with better knowldge (being a girl they may try to rip me off!)

Right, well, first off, my car is a Rover 111 Si with 67k on the clock, I have a major water leak (fill it up and its gone within a few hours), I know a fair bit about my car, and noticed it's coming from the water pump area, and hoping it's just the water pump that will need replacing?

I also have a more serious problem of power loss when I accelerate, I've noticed it has got worse since I've put it through the MOT (which it passed, with no mechanical problems!), the problem is when I accelerate to start of with it's fine, but then it looses power for a few seconds and then it's fine again, revs seem normal.... and it seems to be in a pattern (looses power on a particular high rev, cant tell you what the rev counter says when it happens as I dont have one - its on my to-do list!)

I've been told it could be a number of things, first guess was clutch (though I asked the MOT place to check it, and they said its fine, and also I was told it had been changed by the previous owner). Then was timing belt... as the water pump is obviously connected to it! Then head gasket - common problem with k-series engines, but no sign of water in oil, although I have orange substand in my water tank, I've been told it could be rust (I wouldn't be supprised!), or it could be something like the fuel filter. I was also told my old machanic lecturer that it could be something like the clutch cable (although it's supposed to be auto-adjustable?).

If anyone has any other ideas... or knows exactly what the problem is, please share... It would be more appreciate, I don't really want to sell the car, as I'd like to keep it as a project.
