I found a couple of useful descriptions on the above that may be of use to those who have the CVT gearbox on their MGF/TF.

The same box as the one on my mother-in-law's Rover 200 CVT

Not a very good gearbox!!
It's been to the main dealer who fiddled with it, changed the oil, did some reprogramming (?) charged me some dosh and then said. It's as good as it'll get. Which is rubbish.

It drives like it has clutch drag, it doesnt disengage properly when you approach lights or stationary cars. You have to knock it into neutral to stop properly and without filling your trousers.

Any clues as to ways to getting it to work better?

The main problem with the CVT box seems to be garages using the wrong oil.
