In a world filled with cowboy dealerships and money-grabbing high street garages, it's fairly rare to find a garage which you can trust to do good work on your pride and joy and charge you a reasonable price. Below is a list of such garages which have been recommended by members on this very forum. Please feel free to add comments or recommend more good garages!

This list has been built up over the past year or so - I doubt that there is a more comprehensive list of garages anywhere else! Many, many thanks to everyone for helping out to make this a sticky post.

Info: I have recently had a nightmare with my Rover 75 CDT and had to get it towed out of a garage. After much homework I was recommended Clutch Tech. Now, my gearbox was out, exhaust off etc when it was towed in. I needed the Slave Cylinder and Clutch fitted and it obviously reassembled. I spoke to the Manager Graham who was really on the ball. He originally quoted £160.00 labour only. When he had finished he said I only owed him £120.00......now thats a first. He has been in the business for well over 20 years and has alot of repeat custom and excellent reports. More info: I have used Steve Ridgway's garage for several years. Steve, Simon and the rest of the boys have bailed me out of trouble many times and kept two Rover 75 V6s and my wife's 45 rolling! I got a genuine Clutch kit for my ZT comprising Borg and Beck clutch cover and plate (the later type with springs) and concentric slave (which was selling on Ebay with a 'buy it now' price of £179) for £160 , a DMF (LUk) for £215 and collected both items. The staff are really nice and it's a decent business with excellent prices. They don't just sell on e-bay, the DMF was a phone call and all of the parts were in stock. Not only did he replace the fan, he also checked out my lighting wiring looms, upgraded the turbo intercooler o-rings, checked the intercooler lower casing, checked the air-con high-pressure & power steering pipes and protected them from rubbing, flushed out the washer bottle of bacteria, carrier out the bonnet cable divider block modification and also the intake mod and lots, lots more checks! I'd guess they are about 40 euro an hour, but that's real hours rather than 'by the book' hours, and like I said, they know their rovers. Well I've booked mine into SMC Slough for a full service and maiden MOT in 3 weeks. I've heard good & bad reviews about them but it's the closest to me and they've serviced the car every year since before I owned it.

Cost of service (excl mot) is £189 but I'll give my review once I collect it - atleast they're much cheaper than G Kingsbury in Hampton and they can't be any worse than Kingsbury who charge around £300 to service a 25.

Great service from these guys today.. helpful, and good value!
They do other brands, but I think MGR is their speciality.. also have T4 facility (and just about every other manufacturer diagnostic hardware by the sounds of it), matched up my new IPK, made some option changes.. and a bit of diagnostic work. Was the first time they'd upgraded a lowline - highline IPK, but done without problem!

I think they're about the only listed MGR specialists covering the Doncaster & Rotherham area, so expect them to be busy.
