Yorkshire Air Museum 26th September 2010

Hi all following a great meet last year during September at Eden Camp, courtesy of Krist & Carl, I'd like to organise a similar event at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington on Sunday the 26th September 2010. I haven't been for some time - but it's really a buzz to go - have a look at their website to get a feeling for it

http://www.yorkshireairmuseum.co.uk/index.asp

from what I can see it's even more a good day out. I'll be contacting them to see what sort of extra discount we maybe able to get and sort out an area where we'll be able to park together etc. and discuss our MGR's.

I've received a reply to my email from the Yorkshire Air Museum and they will charge £4.00 per car - which is a good discount - vehicles need to be in a "display condition and parked in designated areas for public display".

I know it's a bit early to think about September but I'd like to see how many member's would be interested.

Me and the "management" are thinking of making it a long weekend probably staying near York, going over during friday and coming back on the monday so we can possibly take in some other attractions on the saturday like Castle Howard and have a run to either Whitby or Scarborough for fish & chips with other members if interested.

jim,
Joy and I will be there as already stated just a word of warning by all means look for accommodation on the page you have posted but do not book with them.
I booked with them last sept at the george at easingwold because we had stayed before ,i got email from them advising me to cancel the booking and book direct with them, two reasons cut out the booking firm and save the hotel commission my booking went from £320 to £219 by cancelling.

once you find where you want to stay look for their own website or email book direct.

Know what you mean Ken, I'd be booking direct myself - moving a bit upmarket though going to try the Holiday Inn Resort hotel just south of York - I've updated the first page with your details.

Plus I've put a couple of links for Travelodge and Premier Inn for others that might stay over.

I won't bother pm'ing you now you've seen the thread, but I'll give flyer a call.

Cheers

Me n the missus are interested fellas (no kids attached this time). We'd like to arrive friday, but we need to be home sunday night. Is this a meet up and have a drink saturday night or what? Wouldn't it be better if none of us had drive if that were the case. Where are you all staying?

Hi Damien.

Edited the list to include you both - be great to see you again, hopefully both with V8's.

Don't know about 'flyer or Ken but me and Jean are thinking of staying just on the outskirts of York as it's handy for Elvington for sunday. On saturday we were thinking of going to Castle Howard during the day, we could arrange something for the evening though. No hard and arrangements at the moment except for Elvington on sunday.

Did you have a suggestion?

Regards

Me, make suggestions. Would I? Yes - Why dont we meet up somewhere saturday evening for a drink - and leave the cars at the hotels. The obvious trouble with that is distance from our hotels. I wouldn't want to be travelling too far, and neither would anyone else i guess.

Sounds fine to me Damien - but as you say it all depends where we end up staying, I won't be booking our accomodation for some time yet so there's chance for us all to try to agree on the same hotel.

take it we`d be looking at stopping in either York or selby - or would we be more looking to somewhere in the sticks ?(just finding somewhere big enough) - Pocklington might be worth a look

Just a thought - is it the York food festival this weekend again - I know that Hotel rooms in york were like rocking horse manure last year when we went to Eden Camp due to this

EDIT:- yes it is the york food festival17th to 26th September

Cheers for the heads up for that Carl - it'll mean we'll have to get our skates on and decide where we're going if we want to be in the same hotel. Originally as a treat for Jean I was thinking about the Holiday Inn Resort hotel just on the outskirts of York - but that may well be a little expensive for some - need a bit of input from others though.

Sorry didn't see your post until I got the update email - busy today removing carkit's etc from my 75 and having a battle with vista and my new phone tonight, plus I'm supposed to be ill!
