plastic trim? identification needed!

ok well after cleaning out the interior i found this little item down the side of the passengers seat





it doesnt look all that important, but what is it? does it even belong to the car? i had a good search around and cant seem to find where it came from?

It's a blank for the cigarette lighter/power socket.

It looks like the blank which goes in the 12V accessory socket in the dash - these were fitted as standard from about 2003, with a cigar lighter being a no cost dealer fit option in their place.

Yours may have had the lighter fitted, and this part got dropped and
left behind.
