Fault Code P0300

Hi All,

Wonder if anyone could help me please. My 04 MG ZS 120 on startup in the morning has been idiling high at about 1200+RPM with a fluctuating amount of revs. After a minute or two of driving the car has driven and revved as normal. Today I plugged in a fault reader and it is telling me I have error code P0300 which is random/multiple cylinder misfire detected. After searching these forums I've come upon a couple of previous threads in relation to this error code. I'm intending to change the spark plugs and coils to see if this solves the problem, is this the correct course of action and can advise what other possible problems it could be?

Best Regards

I have now switched the spark plugs and both coils, still having the same issue though. I did how ever clear the fault code before I undertook the work, after taking the car on a 3 to 4 mile run the diagnostic machine says there are no fault codes currently. Just starting to wonder whether i'm worrying over nothing.

Thanks

If it was the throttle position sensor would it not be constantly faulty rather than just when the cars cold?

I saw a Land rover freelander that was doing this.

blew the back box clean in two! it was the Distributer! not sure if the 120'5 have these but know it shares the same K series engine
