zr td black smoke/power loss

Hi my 2005 2.0 td zr recently had a full service and mot, shortly after i was getting a lot of black smoke even though the performance had improved. i've now driven over a 1000 miles and im still getting a load of black smoke but now im losing power when going up hills and i struggle when trying to over take. took it back to where it was serviced, they checked all the filters and said it may be the turbo. anyone with any advice please.

Will almost certainly be a split turbo/intercooler hose with those symptoms.

As said intercooler pipe ,I have a repeating problem with mine the bottom hose under the passenger side headlight keeps working loose and then comes part off resulting in huge amounts of black smoke ( amusing when people tail gate me lol)

Very easy fix when you work out where the problem hose is , could be just a loose jubilee clip , but if the hose is split then a visit to the local scrappy will provide a good used one

in the pic below (this is your engine but with the cover removed )
check the two big thick black hoses in the centre and right of the pic , the one that runs to the silver metal pipe and the other that runs to the black metal pipe , check they are secure at both ends and check for splits or holes , there should also be one more down the back of the engine from the turbo itself , andy
