Why can you post it. Put come cars over the bottom and top and then wrap it up in a bin bag or two.

Not like Royal Mail can damage much of it and its easy enough to quote for P+P using there only calculator.

Probably because he doesn't want to, or it isn't convenient with him that week, or it won't fit through the post office door, or any reason in the world.

People shouldn't buy if they don't like the conditions, the auction description is the chance to walk on.

A lot of people moaned at me on the ebay forums for not doing international sales and asking how to block them. The fact is I don't want to fill out decelerations sheets. Someone counteracted this by saying 'its quick and easy to do'.... I countaracted that by saying 'I do not want to fill out decelerations sheets'.

In all honesty. you're the muppet for refusing to post it out.

Won't cost more than a tenner to post i am sure, so you lost out on a sale.

Besides, you need to be a supporter on here, in order to advertise your bits for sale

Cheers

As above to be honest, Just wrap it in some bubble-wrap then a bin-bag. Would cost around £5 to send through any decent courier.

You listed as free p+p with postage anywhere in gb (from what i can see on ebay mobile). just list as collection only when you list if you don't want to post?

Absolutely. You're an individual, not a business, and you have constraints. It is not of anyone else's business what these are, providing you advertise correctly what you can do or have on offer in terms of postage. In this case, for any reason in the world (its no-one elses business) shipping wasn't convenient for you. This became a pivotal term of sale. You knew it may limit interest, but that was how you wanted to work, it's 100% your choice.

You made it clear what was on offer, someone comitted to buy it and tried to move the goalposts. This is not your fault.

Don't worry about it

If I was to sell a few car parts I have this week, I would not be able to spend time trying to find some packaging to post the larger heavier items due to meetings, interviews and working on my own car. So I might advertise them as pick up only.

There is nothing, nothing whatsoever, unreasonable about that. You the seller make the decision whether to sell something or not, so there's no obligation on you to pull the stops out and make it available internationally or whatever in an 'all or nothing' style. Just put terms on it that suit you, if the buyer doesn't like it then don't bid.

The only fool is the fool who read the description and clicked bid!

It is not only in his written description, it is also in the auction settings.

There is no more he can realistically do, without resorting to using a bigger font, different colours, capitals and perhaps asking people to phone him prior to placing a bid.

I see it saying Collect in person, but i don't see why you did?

Its your choice and all, but its not exactly a hard to post item, your just drastically limiting your sale audience...

ahhh wellz, it IS silly of someone to buy and ask you to post when you have listed it to collect anyway.

I just had a look at the listing on the PC, it does indeed say "collection in person" on the full listing. For some reason it just appears as "free delivery" on the ebay mobile ap though. If i was browsing on my phone, as i regularly do, it would be easy to mistake that for free postage.

Might be worth noting to eBay about this?

Or from a seller's point of view Jason discussing the complications of sale?

I agree actually. I've personally listed several items as "collection in person" and it has always displayed correctly. I have however had an issue with the postage cost part, this was displaying as "contact seller for an estimate" even though i had entered a value.

Ebay ap glitches by the sounds of it!

I agree but in this case it still doesn't wash.

The man emailed for a quote for postage. This implies not that he had mistaken pickup only for free postage, but rather he was being a twit and hadn't read the description, or made the purchase hoping to use the commitment of sale to his advantage.

eBay should be made aware of this potential flaw on their mobile service, but I am critical as to whether it would have had any impact on this situation.
