Purchased a kit from B&Q today. Will put it up at the weekend and will let you know how I get on.

Oh I got a signal meter from e-bay too. Just a few quid.

are you going to have two LNBs, one for British and one for German?

No we have Virginmedia HD cable at home so no need for an extra LNB. I don't like dishes on the wall much so will probably take it down once the F1 season is over.

The sky F1 channel is included if you are subscribe to sky sport or sky HD.

Probably work for people down south.

If you don't have good line of sight then any dish no matter the size will not work properly, though for north of England and Scotland you'd probably need a zone 2 minidish or 80cm or bigger standard dish.

Only direct with Sky, Virginmedia still haven't announced plans.

F1 channel will be available for Virgin Media users. You will of course need to subscribe to all of Sky Sports currently about £20+ I think.

Yep £22.50 (£28 if you are on TV size M) extra per month and you don't even get access to the HD version, Sky should take the blame as they set the terms.

Well put the dish up today, nearly went well but one of the wall anchors didn't work too well. Never mind. I spent 10 mins aligning the dish and quickly found Hotbird 6,8 and 9. It was getting dark and I was getting hungry so I have left it pointing there for now. It is quite easy really. The dish is large so I am glad it is at the back of my house but it can find satellites quickly and the quality is good. The STB they give you can do HD too. Amazing value for £50.

Hotbird? Isn't that 13°Eish? Don't know about 6 8 and 9...

I don't know to what extent RTL Schweiz is the same as RTL, although I have just had to retune VOX, SAT1 and PRO7 to FTA Austrian channels.

Do ensure any channel you want is FTA. ORF1 is not, nor is Dutch TV with its excellent ad-free F1 coverage.

From your link RTL Schweiz is FTA but the other Swiss ones are not.

EDIT looks like F1 is on the State broadcaster in Switzerland and so not FTA there on Hotbird...

Looks like I will be pointing to 19E then for Astra 1H etc. It is actually a doddle to do. The hardest thing was the wall plugs. I suppose I was lucky to have a south facing wall.

I used to be able to get RTL on my Android tablet, but the app doesn't seem to do the channel any more.
