SAIC USA recently opened its new North American Operations Center in Birmingham, Mich

SAIC USA recently opened its new North American Operations Center in Birmingham, Michigan.

The center is only part of SAIC’s plan to create a stronger connection between the Chinese auto industry and the US. The inauguration ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 26th, and gathered senior executives from SAIC Motor in Shanghai, GM, important auto suppliers from China and the States, as well as the Governor of Michigan, Mr. Rick Snyder and Oakland (MI) County Executive, Mr. L. Brooks Patterson.

The 30,000-square-foot three story building will accommodate 100 people and focus on three important areas of the company’s auto business: purchasing, logistics, and technology and engineering.

By opening this new center in Birmingham, Michigan, SAIC will have access to a highly trained work force, proximity to important auto parts suppliers and key global car manufacturers such as GM. Cooperation between auto companies from China and the US is of utmost importance to the global automotive industry.

“It is clear to see SAIC’s determination to deeply cooperate with US businesses and SAIC will continue to promote the development of exchanges with partners in the US. I believe SAIC USA will enhance the operation of localization in the recruitment of professional, technical and management personnel and actively expand economic and trade activities,” said SAIC Motor Chairman, Mr. Maoyuan Hu.
