L Series cambelt kits - Managed to source some at a discount price.

Well guys, as promised I did a bit of snooping around today and talked to a very good friend who works for a major parts distributor.

I was planning to talk to a few of the major Land Rover parts dealers to see if I could get a decent discount, however this friend has come up trumps with a cracking deal on a kit for the L series, using the 112 tooth 30mm belt (LHN100760). I'm glad we started talking a couple of months ago now.

You need to find out if your car has the 30mm belt fitted (usually fitted to 1999 and onwards cars). If you have the earlier 28mm belt, a different timing belt is needed which costs £12 more, although the fuel injection pump belt kit will still work and is unrelated to the different timing belt widths.

I can also offer the fuel injection pump belt kit, including manual tensioner and the bolt for the manual tensioner (if you have an earlier automatic tensioner fitted, you need to use the shorter bolt to fit the manual item).

The cambelt kit includes the belt LHN100760, the idler LHV100160 and the tensioner LHP100840.
The fuel injection pump kit includes the belt MVF100040, the robust manual tensioner LHP100550 and the bolt needed to convert from the automatic to manual tensioner SS110201.

The belts supplied with the cambelt kit are Dayco items, and idlers/tensioners are OEM quality from large brands such as INA. I've not personally had any bad experience with cheaper tensioners / idlers (having used them in the past with no ill effects) but he was pretty clear he'd only be sending me the better branded parts.

I'm selling the full cambelt kits including all 3 parts for £69.99 including P+P. If you need a 28mm belt this kit is £81.99.
The fuel pump injection belt kits including all 3 parts are £34.99 including P+P.
I also offer a combined kit including both kits so you can overhaul all belts for £89.99 including P+P. If you need a 28mm belt this kit is £97.49.

Order from my Shop:
Early kit (200/400/600) - http://www.dmgrs.co.uk/collections/c...-400-600-95-99
Late kit (25/45/ZR/ZS) - http://www.dmgrs.co.uk/collections/c...45-zr-zs-99-06

In the future I'm looking to also include a winding back tool for the tensioner assembly with these kits for free - handy to have as the spring is surprisingly strong.

I can also offer to perform the cambelt change itself for people near to me, PM for details. I've done a good few of these now!

Thanks for listening, and for your support. I'm very happy to be a trader on here, and look forward to saving you L series guys some serious dosh.

Cheers. Rather a random time to do it (Sunday evening!) but with such a good deal on the parts especially with them being proper branded stuff, I couldn't hold back. Time to give something back to the forums!

I owe him a beer!

What about the pump belt and tensioner ? and you don't need any wind back tool.
A kit consists of 2 belts, 2 tensioners and 1 idler.
Perhaps you could also start supplying the aux belts too.
Note later belts are 30mm section.

I did indeed, I've measured mine and it's 28mm like every other one I've changed. Odd!

The kits I've found for around the £140 mark are just for the timing belt side, the pump side is sold separate from what I've found.

I'm going to price up the pump side today, hopefully they won't be too much. Then I can sell the whole lot - I'll give my friend a quick message this afternoon.

Right, I've managed to get some prices for the fuel pump drive belt and tensioner.

After some research, it transpires earlier cars have an automatic tensioner assembly fitted, and thus use a slightly different belt for the fuel pump drive belt. I can't really get a decent price on these unfortunately, however I've managed to knock something better together - a kit to convert the earlier automatic (and plastic!) tensioner to the more sturdy metal tensioner system.

The kit includes a 78 tooth, 24mm drive belt for the fuel pump, the sturdy manual tensioner and also the shorter M10 cap screw needed to secure the manual tensioner (the automatic tensioner uses a longer bolt).

Have a read of this thread for more information regarding the coversion - another member has swapped them over with no issues and I also had to do the same when I fitted a 1997 cylinder head to my 2003 ZS. It was as simple as unbolting the original tensioner and bolting up the manual tensioner.

The fuel pump drive belt kit with belt, manual tensioner and M10 cap screw will cost £34.99 including P+P, or I can supply the whole lot (fuel pump drive belt kit with manual tensioner and cambelt kit, with tensioner and idler) for £89.99 including P+P.

If you buy a gates kit or unipart kit you get 5 items, at the moment your pricing is too expensive for a 28mm kit.
The 28mm belt was fitted to pre 99 cars, the 30mm belt 99 onwards if you find the narrower belt on anything post 99 then it's had the wrong kit fitted.

Just called up and clarified this, and the belts I'm being supplied with are indeed the later 30mm items - post updated to clarify.

I can't find the full kit for less than I'm selling for, although the kits I've found it turns out are also 30mm. I can't get the 28mm belts for a decent price.
