Drive to recruit engineers for future MG cars

High calibre engineers and designers are urgently needed to work on the next generation of MG cars.

SAIC Motor’s UK Technical Centre, based at MG Birmingham, needs to recruit professional engineers and designers due to the huge international success of the MG brand. New MG cars, such as the award-winning MG6 models, now sell in dozens of countries.

David Lindley, Managing Director of SMTC UK, said: “Modern MGs are designed and engineered in Birmingham and sold in an ever increasing number of markets throughout the world.

“As well as the UK and China, MG has recently expanded into markets such as Egypt, Uruguay and New Zealand. This is a huge success story for British designers and engineers and, we have a fantastic range of future products to work on.

Hadn't seen this site before www.saicmotor.co.uk very informative.

The recruitment announcement chimes with the SAIC visitors to the MG Live show last month who told Mike Humble at ARonline, "Before we parted company, I was also told to expect big changes in the not too distant future."

I am sure a lot of posters on this forum will be applying for these roles considering how much more they know about vehicle design and manufacture

LOL.

Very true. They'd probably go with the intention of showing them what to do though

Maybe thats because without the knowledge and input from outside China they would be years behind where they are now. Its just a shrewd business decision.

They have been making cars under licence for VW and GM, but thats very different to designing a car from the ground up. Its only since they hoovered up various companies have they had own brands that would sell widely to an international market.

Cock. They didn't want me when I applied last year, and now they're recruiting after I've just started a two-year fellowship. Just my luck.

I will be, that's not the issue. The issue will be if I have to pay back any of the fellowship I'm on if I leave early.
