Better start a new thread about this.. Changing the battery...

Yo, I might replace my battery, it's 6yrs old and gettin a tad sluggish.. I got a mk3 214 with alarm and immobiliser and standard radio.. Now if I change it myself will the alarm go ape?? If it does can I just stop it using the fob buttons?? Another thing, I think I have the wrong key code for emergency access cos every time I try to punch it in the alarm goes off.. How can I get the right one??
Thanx

Garages
You'll have no problems.

Try increasing the codes value on digits 2 and 4 by one

Example 1234 becomes 1335

as major say's you'll have no trouble what so ever, only inconvenience of changine the battery is the radio pre-sets will go off so you'll have to re-rune them

alt you need to get in touch with a dealership to get it mate, it's a sequence that you enter in the drivers door lock

EKA......yes...strange this ...I read the code from my car yesterday and it doesn't match the one supplied with the car.

The original doesn't work...but the "read" one does. I wonder how many people have the incorrect EKA?

LOADS it's very common for the dealer to give you the wrong code, i'd get the dealer to put the code in infront of you and if it don't work then refuse to pay.

The dealer gave me the key code and radio code for free, for both my rovers. I thought it was always free.

The radio code they gave me I know is correct.

I have never tried the key code though. Maybe I should. Just in case.

it has been known for some dealers to charge as much as £20 for the code.

i would get mine but as i don't have any external locks it's a bit pointless
