Cool which trottle body do i have????

i have a rover 25 ie 3dr which is supposed to put out 83ps. but after looking under the bonnet i'm not sure if the previous owner has upgraded the throttle body to the 52mm as it's made from aluminium. is there anyway of finding out which one it is like a number on it>

Im no guro, but from what I can remember alum. throttle bodies are made in 48mm too

Yes, both the 48mm and 52mm came in aluminium.
If the partnumber on the throttle body is MHB000261, than it's 52mm.
Another way to check, is by removing the hose from the throttle body and check if it opens completely. If it doesn't open comletely (90 degree angle), you have the 83ps version.

unfortunatly it has the partnumber mhb000100, so it must be the 48mm. thanks for your help

Take the hose off and visually check to see if the throttle valve opens fully.

MHB000100 is the tb that won't fully open. Replace it with a MHB000080 (alloy 48mm) or MHB000261 (alloy 52mm) and you'll gain 20bhp. You'll also need a new throttle cable.

Do not forget the increase in power should be noted to your insurance company. I know two people who did this easy mod and then there insurance did not pay out both wear with the same company so be warned.
