Wax polish / Why is my car retaining water?

To set the scene, my drive is on the western aspect of my house ( sun rises on the rear of the house so the car is in the shade where it lives on the drive.)
It gets regularly washed with Autoglym bodywork conditioning shampoo followed with either a waxing with Autoglym super resin polish or some 'better' wax that I got off my boss, he wont tell me what brand it is but we use it on the trucks that go to all the truck shows.
Water beads & runs off my truck without problem, on the Vitesse however I cannot get the water to start moving off the car properly until I get to at least 70mph.
My wife's 820 Si does not retain water like this, neither did any other car I have owned as far as I recall.
Any suggestions?

How well are you cleaning the car first? Have you considered t-cutting or claybaring the bodywork to remove any tiny imperfections to leave a really smooth surface?

I know what you are saying but its as smooth / shiney as can be, the laquer is silky smooth & the car gleams.

It really doesnt make any sense at all the way it keeps water on it.
I am going to t-cut it (read... try to convince the Mrs. to t-cut it for me!) before the weekend then either use Mer or Stardust wax on it.
