Does anyone have the relative weights of the Rover V8 engines, in particular the diff between the (old) 3.5 Litre and the (new) 4 & 4.6 Litre versions as fitted to the 75?
I was just wondering about replacing the 2.5 V6 engine in my Freelander with a V8 and dont fancy braking and cartwheeling down the road !I realise the V6 is transversly mounted and (I believe) all of the V8s are mounted in-line, but if the V6 mashes itself (high likelyhood I believe) I fancy this as an option. If I have to, anyone fancy a project with me?

The KV6 is a very good unit with good reliability. No common serious probs with it, the one real common thing is the VIS valve motors - £50.

Yeah just read that and re-iterate, the KV6 has no known serious probs including HGF. I have only seen 1 HGF failure on the forum on a ZT, any engine can have a HGF, but its certainly not common on the KV6. Don't be ripped off by having a new VIS motor fitted, they are £50 and take about 10mins to change. Also they may say its the inlet manifold valve, but most of the time it can be cured by a new motor. |

It is nice to hear something good about the KV6 - thats the prob with Forums - you tend to mainly hear the bad news...... - no-one writes in with " I've had my ..... for 15 years and havenet had any probs" Its all " It's blown up 3 times in a week! - nevva again will I touch one!"

Is the 4.6 V8 from the ZT/75 V8 (RWD) not a Ford Mustang engine?

"This, the latest V8 displaces 4.6 litres and is capable of 195kW and 410Nm that can be tamed with cruise and traction control. Top speed about 240km/h and, surprise, the same motor is used in the US to power the Ford Mustang." on this link - http://www.motoring.co.za/index.php?...icleId=2088569 |
