Hi All
Has anybody fitted this Ebay boot release to their car? See link below: http://http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Electri...QQcmdZViewItem If yes, was it money well spent or steer clear? Thanks |

Yup, I've got this kit. The B&G one is a much tidyer (SP?) install but this one certainly does the trick. You'll need a relay as well really as the solenoid takes quite a thump of current. Well worth the money though.

It looks a lot like the kit I bought. As Phil said, not as tidy as the B&G one, but when the boots down....... I fitted mine without a relay, and yes, it could do with one really, sometime, one day, perhaps, maybe.

I'll probably go for the kit Chris highlighted as this is a UK supplier with no stipulation on what days there willing to deliver. I'll think I'll get hold of a relay and some threadlock. Hopefully that'll stop me having to revisit my handywork.Has anyone thought about using one of the redundant switch spaces on their fascia panel? i.e next to the fog switch. Security shouldnt be a problem as it can be wired to operate on the ignition keyswitch. Or is using one of these switches a no, no due to someone inadvertantly pressing the button at 70mph.

Yes I was thinking about fitting using a consol switch I think a rear fog light switch should do it with it wired up so it only operates with the hand brake on (to prevent operation when the car is moving) and the ignition on, with a hidden emergency button for that time the keys are in the boot. The alternative is the Maplin remote controlled relay that I found last week.

Thanks everyone for all the info, especially Chris.Ive been thinking about this for a while now.I wanted to use a swicth on the console too,but wired up so only live when the ignitions off.
Not worried about anyone finding it out as all thieving gits are dumbasses. But I do like the idea of the remote.Oh decisions decisions....... |
