One touch down...passenger side window...
Hi all,
Having helped TJ with his electric window loom I realised how easy it would be to add the drivers side "one touch down" feature to the passenger side window. A little wiring and some dismantling required....it works a treat. The full tutorial is available here (Word document) |

if this would work on a zs would it also work on the rear windows ? i take it you would need 3 extra ecu`s but they could always be mounted behind the boot trim as theres acres of room in there

What is the switch layout in the MkIII 200? I would like to have one touch down on the passenger window in my coupe, but from the switch in the drivers side door. I'm not fussy about the passenger side, I never sit there.

Aye, does it need a new switch that has a 'clicky' down position? In my 200 the driver's window switch clicks if you press it all the way down to activate the one-touch-down, but the passenger switch does not.

Great article technozen, worthy of the "How To" forum area imo!
Anyone able to do one for the 75/ZT ? Would LOVE this feature on my motor

I'm looking at the 400/45/ZS and 75/ZT wiring diagrams to see if a similar workaround exists. |

Ok...this will work with the 400/45/ZS.
From my limited knowledge of the 400, the passenger window switch is located on the centre console...is the 45/ZS the same? There is no need to change the passenger switch to the "extra" click type that is fitted to the drivers door. Using the labeling that I have assigned in the tutorial this is the sequence for wiring a Mk3 200 window ecu to the 400 passenger side switch. The switch should have four wires connected. Black Blue/Black Blue/Green Blue/Yellow You will need to cut the Blue/Green and Blue/Yellow wires. The loom side of the Blue/Green wire is Point A. The loom side of the Blue/Yellow wire is Point B. The Black wire is Point C. The Blue/Black wire is Point F. The switch side of the Blue/Green wire is Point D. The switch side of the Blue/Yellow wire is Point E. 75/ZT looks a non-runner I'm afraid...everything is controlled by the Body ECU.
The 400/45/ZS with rear windows fitted would be possible, but the wiring will be a nightmare. From what I can make out from the wiring diagram the rear windows can be controlled from the front and the rear?? This complicates things!!! Can someone get me a scan/screen print of the 200 Coupe window wiring diagram...I imagine it should be straightforward ....but my "technical reference" doesn't cover the Coupe!!! My email is technozen@ntlworld.com Ooopps better go....MG-R wiring diagrams all over my desk at work!!! Last edited by technozen; 16-05-2009 at 11:32. |

Nice
Especially as I happen to have a spare window control ECU from a 400 lying around (I assume they're the same)Keith |

Is there anyway to convert the existing ECU to operate "one touch up" as well? I know you'd need a different switch that had the "one touch" bit for both up and down, but what about the ECU?

My ZT windows are all one shot down. Isn't it a dealer setting that can be done?

I think he means to stop it when it gets to the bottom....
I think that's already part of the install, because if you hold the button the motor stops. I think the motor has the stop built in... |

Rich
'one touch down' on the 75 can be enabled for all windows using T4 Testbook. Just get a friendly dealer to switch it on for you. Note one touch up on the 75 is only available on the drivers window as it is the only one fitted with the pressure sensor to stop things getting trapped (apart from a v small number of 75's built with it fitted to all four windows but they are the exception and v rare) hth Mike
