Thanks for the reply. The rest of the instruments in the speedo head unit are fine so it's just the temperature gauge I'm after. It has a clock with a genuine mileage of about 70,000 so would not want to change that.
Cheers.
Apologies for the size of the pics... don't know how to remedy that. :frown:
There is a set of clocks on fleabay, states for a 200 but looks the same as your pic...suppose it depends on what's available with forum members here or going to a scrappy/fleabay
Thanks for your input dert. The red on the rev counter on fleabay starts at 4500 rpm whereas on mine it starts at 6750 rpm. The description says it's for a diesel which is probably correct considering diesel engines do not rev as high as petrol engines. At least that's my understanding anyway. Never the less I appreciate your effort to help. Thanks again.
That's a good question Roverlike as sometimes it's easy to forget to check the simple things. The gauge just did n't stop working it gradually got worse. The problem became evident when the pointer began staying about half way between the bottom of the gauge and the normal operating temperature level. Then it got worse by sometimes not moving off the bottom and sometimes moving up just above the lower calibrations. So that indicated that the connector was still in place but I checked anyway.
I then reported the problem to my local garage - who I get to do all my repairs now - thinking it may be a stuck thermostat or the sensor but they checked it out and said the fault lay with the gauge.
Just thought I'd add some part numbers I got from here just in case anyone has got one lying around in their garage.
Temperature Gauge YAD100530
The complete speedo head unit part number of the case assembly - illuminated instrument pack (back of the unit) is YAS100480
Thanks for reading.
