Wanted section: Buyers advice...

We all know the well known phrase, "buyer beware"...

Beware, as always there are some people that will try to con you of your hard earned money, offering parts on internet forums is a known scam that has been carried out many times before. Beware of who you intend to buy items from and ask yourself the following questions:

Do you know the seller?
If you don't know the seller proceed with caution, do some research and check to see if he/she has previously sold to anyone else on the forum.
Has the seller got a good reputation on the forum?
Check the sellers reputation level. Lots of green boxes is a good sign but don't automatically assume that makes him/her trustworthy.
Is the seller a regular poster on the forum?
Has the seller got a high post count? A high post count is a good sign as it shows that he/she is a regular user of the forum. Again, this doesn't automatically mean that the seller is trustworthy but it's a positive sign.
Is the seller a forum supporter?
If the seller has became a supporter they're less likely to be here to scam you of your hard earned.
Do you have verified contact details for the seller?
If you're giving a large amount of money to someone it's important that you have their contact details, don't assume that the forum has their address. A scammer is likely to use false details so try to verify that the address and phone number is correct by calling him/her and sending a letter to the address.
Has the seller sold on the forum before?
Search through the sellers previous posting history to check for evidence of any previous transactions and contact the person that he/she previously dealt with and ask them whether or not the transaction went smoothly.
Is the payment method secure and does it offer any buyer protection?
Scammers will want you to pay via a non-secure method that offers no payment protection. Cash/Cheque/Postal-order/Transfer offer you little or no protection. The most secure method is either Paypal (do not pay by 'gift') or cash on collection.
Payment Methods:

Paypal - The best form of Payment is via Paypal as this offers you some buyer protection. Make sure that you pay by 'goods', do not pay via 'gift' because this doesn't offer you any protection.

Cash - Paying by cash is only recommended if you are collecting the item in person and you inspect it carefully for any faults before handing over your money. Do not send cash via post to the seller.

Cheque - If you pay by cheque you must inspect the item first because a cheque offers you no buyer protection. It's also incredibly important that you ensure that the seller is 100% genuine.

Postal Order - These are the same as cheques, they offer zero protection, they can be cashed very easily.

Bank Transfer - Again, a direct bank transfer offers you no protection so don't use this method of payment without first seeing the item and ensuring that the seller is 100% genuine.

Steve Childs nor Online Enthusiasts Ltd can be held responsible for any losses or problems with any transaction conducted on mg-rover.org. The forum is merely and introductory service, any purchases that you make are at your own risk and it's your responsibility to ensure that the buyer/seller is trustworthy. If you suspect a scam/scammer please alert the administration/moderation team immediately and don't proceed with the transaction.
