    Hi Red

Finally had a go at removing the message center. Sadly with no luck, everything is far to fragile to get it desoldered by hand. But nevertheless a big thanks for providing the IPK.

Hi Red - thanks for the link - he's done a good job with that repair and it does prove it to me that it'd be possible to change the message centre screen over.

    All the best Jim

No problem Roy, glad I've been of some help and averted disaster - been there, done it, got the tee shirt lol.

Hi Roy. I cannot give you the definitive answer to the question but my understanding is that the circuit board for the message centre IPK and the standard IPK are different and therefore what you want to do cannot be done. I'd asked a similar question before I started converting IPK's for my car and had been told by people such as Keith Alexander that it was not possible. The easiest way to upgrade to message centre is to buy the cheapest new message centre IPK you can find suitable for the engine in your car and then use the dial cards/illumination leds if needed from the current one.

I'm currently using a diesel IPK in my petrol 75 - it can be done but I wouldn't advise it as it means the rev counter display is not as it should be.

Sorry to really not much help, hope I've answered your question.

    Regards Jim
