Any old school mechanic should be able to tune them. To be fair they're not that difficult to set up. Check out YouTube and have ago yourself.

Lovely timing chain there. No nasty belt to keep changing.
  4. Battery Warning Light on Start

    MGF and MGTF
Just a though, have you tested the alternator output under full load?

It's a bit brutal. Brakes on, in drive and Rev the engine. It should start to struggle and eventually stall. Personally I wouldn't go as far as the engine stalling but it will give a good indication to the condition of the converter. Obtw threading sewing machine needles is a bit of a dark art.

  8. URGENT PLEASE - door regulaor

    MGF and MGTF
Sorry no. It was a couple of years ago when mine stuck down. I thought mine was stuck but it turned out to be a relay in the BCU had failed. You could start by slacking off the motor fixing screws and see if it frees up.
  9. Cam belt and oil filter pipes

    MGF and MGTF
I'm sure mine doesn't look like that. Must have a look sometime
  10. URGENT PLEASE - door regulaor

    MGF and MGTF
Can you get hold of the glass and help it up as you press the button? If it's tight there is current limiter or something similar that'll shut the power off to prevent damage. Otherwise try powering the motor directly from a battery. If it still won't move then its dismantle the mechanism and...
  11. Fuel Pump

    MGF and MGTF
If you fit it, I would not put it in the tank. Chop it into the fuel line if you must. Do you know the pressure it delivers will be adequate?

Excellent work Ian. It just keeps getting better. Wish I had your energy and motivation for my XR4. Felling a bit yuk at the moment.
  14. Another New Question ... !

    MGF and MGTF
The standard water pump is perfectly fine. I think this is a circulation / air lock problem. WRT an additional fan, all I can say my fan seldom comes on. Usually at MOT times. I think further investigation is needed.
  15. New MGF owner

    MGF and MGTF
Watch out for trapped fingers. Those clips are evil.
  16. What have you done to your MGF MGTF today? (Second Part)

    MGF and MGTF
Changed the OS front wishbone due to rust. MOT next.
  17. Front lower ball joint advice

    MGF and MGTF
Depends on the condition of the wishbone really. The have a habit of rusting through.
  18. TF160. What tyres are you using?

    MGF and MGTF
I originally had P Zeros all round. But due to difficulties finding them now went for a Pair of Falcons on the back. No noticeable difference to the handling at all.
  19. Drain the tank

    MGF and MGTF
Agreed. My Ford stood for six years and started second twist of the key with a new battery. The floor pan however, not so good.
  20. Strange creaking noise at front right

    MGF and MGTF
Hi Ian. What car are we talking about here? Is it a F/ TF, or maybe an older TF. Just wondering as modern TFs are rack and pinion steering. Cheers TW.
